Easter

We had a relatively quiet Easter weekend at home this year. This was the first year Jack really understood Easter - we had been studying the Easter story and the resurrection for several weeks leading up to Easter Sunday. We debated about whether to do the Easter Bunny thing or not, as we wanted to keep the focus on the real meaning of Easter. I decided to tell Jack that the Easter Bunny brings gifts to celebrate Jesus' resurrection, and that seemed to make sense to Jack, so we went with it!

On Easter morning, Jack came in and said, "Mommy, I already looked outside, and the Easter Bunny isn't here yet." I guess he expected him to show up and ring the front doorbell - who knows how 3-year-old minds interpret these things? But he and Sammy were thrilled to discover that the bunny had left two trails of eggs leading from the front door to the fireplace hearth, where he left two Superman pails full of goodies.

We went to church, and then had a great lunch with the Williams family. Our wonderful neighbors, Paul and Kathy, invited the boys over for an egg hunt in their backyard in the afternoon. The boys loved it, and finished the day with more candy than they'll be able to eat in a year!
